For Britt Kaylor, the journey to recording artist has been a long winding road. A Colorado native, Britt’s interest in music began almost as soon as she could talk. She grew up playing classical piano music. Dissatisfied with playing other people’s compositions, she began creating her own arrangements, and by junior high, was writing her own music and lyrics. In High School she traded in the piano for her first guitar, and hasn’t put it down since. The teenage years birthed her first lyrics out of the typical teenage angst, while, college served to temper and bring a remarkable depth to her songwriting.

Content to play in her dorm room, forces conspired to pull Britt out of her shell. Soon invitations poured in to play benefit concerts, write and perform songs for special events, teach clinics, and play various small venues in Fort Collins and the Denver Metro area.

Primarily self-taught, with a wide range of influences, she has developed an original and unique style. Her acoustic renditions are percussive, honest, and soulful. Britt’s debut album, An Inside View was released in October 2006. It blends her alto voice with poetic lyricism for a reflective experience.

When not performing, practicing, studying or teaching guitar, Britt is traipsing through the backcountry. You will find her kicking up powder with her tele skis, bloodying her fingers on Rocky Mountain granite, and getting her fly line stuck in almost every tree at the river’s edge-of course having a great time in the process.
